Qualifications of an OG Mentor: Life Experiences

What qualifies an OG Mentor? Is it life experiences? Let me explain.
I’ve made mistakes and stumbled, even while winning multiple achievements at different institutions. Yet, I was able to decipher how to navigate my way out of challenging situations by identifying and changing the patterns that held me back.
People need to stop and observe their surroundings, evaluate their situations, and process their own thoughts to remove whatever negativity they might face. Instead of relying on false information from others—information that hasn’t been corrected or led to success—they must learn to trust their own judgment.
Given the tragedies and missteps I’ve been through, it’s ironic yet profound that God gave me a second chance to help others. After a double transplant, my mind is clearer than ever, and my focus and determination are stronger than ever before. Looking back, I understand now that if I had known the proper methodologies for handling life’s challenges, I could have avoided many pitfalls.
However, just like anyone else, I got caught up in misinformation and uncertainty, which led me from one scrape to another. OG Mentors seeks to guide individuals so they can avoid taking those misguided approaches.
When trying to understand a new situation, isn’t it best to do your own research? Find out what it really is—not what others claim it to be. This mindset is crucial, especially for teenagers and young adults navigating today’s complex world.

The Role of Accountability

Many people hesitate to take accountability for their actions because they don’t want to admit they were wrong. However, true growth comes from being able to correct yourself, accept criticism, and take steps to improve.
OG Mentors is a sound organization that brings individuals to the table, offering new approaches and methodologies to help them strive for and achieve success in life.
Through one-on-one counseling and other support services, we aim to strengthen individuals in their areas of weakness—whether academically, socially, emotionally, or psychologically. By equipping them with the right tools, we empower them to build a better future.
Og Picture
Let me start by sharing my story. I began with a "B" number in state prison and Youth Authority. Back then, it was unheard of for people to go to prison. When it happened, society looked at them in a terrible way. Nowadays, however, going to prison seems glorified, and some people even want to go just so they can say they’ve been there.
Back in the '60s and '70s, during the era of "B" numbers, people who went to prison were seen as seriously bad individuals because it was hard to end up there—you really had to commit horrific acts. In today’s society, many young people glorify the idea of going to prison so they can impress their friends, make themselves look tough, or make others fear them. What they don’t realize is that prison today is nowhere near as horrific as it was back then.
Years ago, you were truly locked up—chained and dressed in white suits with stripes. If young people today knew how it really was back then, they wouldn’t throw away their lives by getting criminal records. These records prevent them from functioning in society, finding good jobs, or achieving their goals.
If you can stop these destructive habits at a young age, you do yourself a huge favor. If not, you risk wrecking your life for at least 20 years. Climbing out of the system, dealing with parole, and trying to rebuild your life is no easy task. Often, people end up in this situation because they were just following someone they thought was "cool," not realizing they were being led off a cliff.
I want to inspire children, adolescents, and young adults to steer clear of dishonest actions such as stealing, snatch-and-grabs, and assaults. Seeing someone else succeed doesn’t mean you have to bring them down or take what they have. Instead, channel that energy into self-improvement by learning from their achievements.
Today’s society calls this kind of envy "hating," and it’s a terrible mindset to have. It’s not your place to decide what others can or cannot achieve. Concentrate on your own growth and how you can move your life toward success.

Mentoring Curriculum

Groups, lectures, one-on-one consultations, modeling and coaching, and buddy assignments.
I want to be able to bring out the best in people, especially those who think they can't succeed or have been told it cannot be done. Is it not a myth that every individual has the opportunity to succeed? How you approach it is the key.
I was once a child caught up in that situation, and it was a very horrible experience. That is why I’m committed to OG Mentors 100. These actions must be brought to the attention of parents so that children will not act, speak, or think in a corrupt manner.
I also understand that some children, adolescents, or teenagers who come from dysfunctional families carry the burden of their families’ dysfunction. When they're at an age where they’re supposed to be learning right from wrong, those opportunities are often taken away due to the dysfunction that occurs within their families.
This message must be said out loud to help people stop thinking in limiting ways and realize that within themselves, they can achieve more than they ever thought possible.

My Mission

My quest is to connect young minds to better ways of thinking and living their lives. This involves counseling, mentoring, and team building. By linking them with business owners and professionals, I aim to teach them how to succeed from start to finish—whether in trades, entrepreneurship, or other ventures they wish to explore.
What many young people don’t realize is that relying on a group of uninformed peers can often lead to confusion and failure. Each individual interprets situations differently, and when misinformation spreads within a group, they often end up agreeing on something that isn’t true.
I understand how challenging it is to grow up in today’s society. But I also know that young people need certain skills and techniques to survive and thrive. Without these skills, they may fall victim to misunderstandings or peer pressure.
